Materials Needed
- Kitchen Tea Towel
- (2) 12 x 24" cotton fabric
- Thread
Pattern uses a 1/4" Seam allowance
Step 1
Cut out two tie pieces that are 28" x 4" long.
With right sides together, place one of the short sides of the ties together. Stitch two ties together.
Open and press the seam.
Step 2
Fold the tie with right sides together along the long side. Stitch from the folded corner all the way around to the long side.
Leave about a 4" wide opening by the seam you made in step 1. Continue to sew to the opposite corner of the ties.
Step 3
Turn the ties right side out through the opening left in step 2.
Step 4
Fold your towel in thirds. Use pins to mark placement lines for where you will stitch the ties. The lines should be on the back of the towel in the center panel. You want the ties to be about 3-4" from the center of a folded towel.
Open up the towel.
Step 5
Find the middle of your ties. Pin the middle of the ties to the center panel of your towel where you marked with your pins.
You will only sew the ties to the center panel.
Step 6
Sew tie to the center panel using a box stitch. Only sew around the center panel.
Step 7
Fold your towel in thirds again and tie a bow at the front of the towel.
You did it! You made yourself a beautiful towel. Plus, you used up some of your own fabric scraps.
Now go hang that towel up and wash your hands. And don't forget to use the hanging towel kitchen sewing pattern to make gifts for your family and neighbors.
